Most treasured possession [TM challenge]

Material possessions mean little to me. They can be bought, sold, replaced, lost, found, discarded, destroyed, recreated... they can never be truly yours.

I suppose my most treasured possession is of the same nature to a certain degree, and yet not.

It is my mind with all my knowledge, my memories, my dreams... Maybe not loved all the time, but highly treasured and mine nonetheless. It can never belong to somebody else. I have made sure of that. Nobody, other than me, would ever be able to influence my mind permanently. Not directly at least. Outside influence will always have an effect, no matter if you want it or not, but that effect can be controlled and even countered, should it effect an unwanted change.

Age can, and will have an unwanted effect on a mind. Time will wear it down, distort it and destroy it and slowly it will disappear into the same base state as it was born in. But then I will be beyond caring, since I'll be gone too.
